In response to social media posts indicating trouble was about to happen in the West End, police fought with young people on Oxford Street.

An online video of police beating young guys with batons in a shopping mall went viral after the shoplifting call went viral.

During the chaos on one of Europe's busiest shopping streets on Wednesday evening, nine people were jailed.

Several shops along the street were protected by the Met Police after a large wave of looting was expected.

An unidentified group of people ransacked a candy store in the area, stole things, and then posted videos of it online.

An apparent TikTok-organized fight occurred near a McDonald's where two young men were handcuffed and led away.

Around 3 p.m., nearby stores, including a drugstore and eye doctor's office, shut down and people gathered on the street to watch.

Several police officers and security officers attempted to get people out of the area for a short period of time.

The busy shopping street was crowded with cops and security guards after rumours of a fight surfaced.

Later, police were seen raising their batons outside the Microsoft store as they chased after young people.

Around 8:15 p.m. that night, police said nine people were arrested and 34 people had been ordered to leave the area.

"Officers maintained a very visible presence throughout the day on Wednesday," said the force.

The report also stated, "Four people were arrested on suspicion of breaking the dispersal order, one arrest was made for going ready to steal, one arrest was made for assaulting a police officer, and one arrest was made for public order violations."

"Police in Essex arrested two people earlier this afternoon for plotting a robbery after seeing posts on social media."

During the hours of 11 a.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Thursday, police officers were allowed to restrict access to the area for 48 hours.

The Rules Can Be Broken by Those Who Don't Follow Them

Dispersal orders give the police more power to break up groups of two or more people whose behavior is causing trouble, harassment, or grief, according to the police. People can move around at some Tube stops such as Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Charing Cross, and Covent Garden.

London's mayor, Sadiq Khan, asked people not to participate in "nonsense" that was going around on social media on Oxford Street earlier.

In a statement to PA news agency, Khan said, "I'm worried about the nonsense we've seen on TikTok.

There is a possibility that people may want to go to that part of London because of TikTok.

Stay away from Oxford Street if you've seen it. Don't let yourself get sucked into a place with a high crime rate."
